This is where I share my insights, my tips, my guidance, tools and strategies, knowledge and experience through the written word - the ups, the downs, the positive, the negative, the in-betweens, as I continue through this time of change on my life journey and ... where I reflect on the life experiences that I have had so far, how they have shaped me, what they have taught me and hopefully what they can teach you as well. It's kinda based on my view of the world, my insights on all things nutrition, fitness, lifestyle, mind-set, health, wellness, business and personal life related and how they relate to you as a woman in her 40s, 50s and beyond or ... as someone who is just wanting to make a little bit more sense of their life, and the world in which we live and ... is working out their place in it as well as in their own life.

We can all learn from each other and I too have many others from whom I learn, through reading their blogs, books and articles, and being welcomed into a little part of their world. It helps to know that we are not alone and, what we might be experiencing now, someone else may have already experienced so is therefore able to provide words of wisdom, tools, advice and guidance that can help us better manage whatever the particular experience may be. It also enables us to grow and develop as individuals, and as part of the wider community within which we live, it can widen our knowledge, increase our skills, expand our experience and we, in turn, can reach out and help others to do the same.

This blog is about trying to escape the 'Dieting Mentality' and to find out what works for you that will work for you throughout your life - did you know that one of the major causes of obesity is dieting? By constantly being on/off diets and jumping on the latest quick fix you are actually slowing your metabolism down and it can take years, yes years, to recover - that's why you see people who lose a lot of weight tending to put it back on plus more - fat and weight loss isn't just about calories in and out and the amount of exercise you do, it's about the type of exercise, the type of foods and drinks you're consuming and when and it's also about sleep, about movement, about hormones and rest and relaxation.

Ghosting - I didn't even know this term until a couple of days ago when I was reading a Facebook post by Jade Teta of Metabolic Effect - according to Jade 'for those who don't know ghosting is when a friend (romantic or otherwise) starts ignoring all your communication. Texts go without a reply, calls don't get returned etc. Apparently a huge percent of adults engage in this behaviour rather than just having a conversation. This leaves the ghosted person often confused and hurt.'. This has happened to me, and to others I know, and I hadn't known there was an actual name for it! This week's blog gives my personal insight on this and some tips, guidance and such like as to how I have managed being 'ghosted' - hopefully they'll help you too if you've ever experienced and/or are experiencing it too.

I’m personally of the opinion that it doesn’t matter what job you do, what qualifications you do and don’t have, how much money you have, as long as you’re happy, you have a roof over your head, food on the table and are continually evolving and developing and doing what enables you to be true to yourself. 

However, not all people are of the same opinion, which is fair enough, we don’t all have to agree and we are all entitled to our own opinions but … I don’t think it’s right to categorise jobs into those that are so called ‘proper’ jobs and those that aren’t. It’s also not right to think of someone as potentially wasting their life or being less of a person because they are not in one of these so-called proper jobs. This blog explores what is meant by this and gives a bit of a personal insight into how those with or without proper jobs tend to be perceived and a few takeaway thoughts for you.

Gossiping  is something that is so prevalent in our lives, everyone does it, even if they say they don’t you can be guaranteed that they will, (or they have) in some way, shape or form, gossiped at some stage about someone else, whether intentionally or not. 

Yes it can be argued that it is human nature to do so and many people regard gossiping as a normal thing to do. But saying things that aren’t nice, that are potentially untrue, that are usually a subjective opinion based on untruths and that you wouldn’t say directly to the person concerned is not normal. I am sure that we’ve all been at the receiving end of gossip and yes we’ve all been a gossiper too.

Jill Coleman (www.jillfit.com), my current mentor, wrote a very powerful Facebook post this weekend about how if you love someone you shouldn't be trying to control them. In my blog this week I've shared her post and added my own take to it - it resonates quite strongly with me in two ways - when I have to take a step back when those I love and care about might be making decisions I don't always fully agree with and when I'm making decisions that those who love and care about me might not fully agree with.
